Thanksgiving Dinner Doesn’t Have to be Hard
Thanksgiving Dinner doesn’t have to be hard. With the proper planning and making some dishes ahead, you can get your dinner on the table and sit down to enjoy it without making yourself crazy.
Here’s the Thanksgiving Dinner I tend to serve. Every now and then, I will try a new side dish or two but I’ve learned not to mess with tradition on Thanksgiving or Christmas holidays.
The one thing you do not want to be doing or your husband will not want to be doing is going to the grocery store on Thanksgiving Day. And that’s if you can find one open. Use these steps to help you avoid last minute grocery runs and the chaos that can accompany big family gatherings.
Step 1: Plan Your Thanksgiving Dinner Menu. (If you’re having overnight guests, plan for breakfasts and lunches as well.)
Step 2: Shop your shelves. See what you have on hand and what you will need to buy.
Step 3: Make your shopping list. Actually, make two lists…one with what you have on hand and the other with what you need to purchase.
Step 4: Decide what dishes you can make ahead and when you will make them.
Step 5: Determine what time you want dinner on the table and plan backwards from there.
Use the above Thanksgiving Dinner Menu and Shopping List below as a guide to help you get the things you will be needing to make Thanksgiving Dinner and Thanksgiving Day all you want it to be. Tweak it by adding in the particular items you need to accommodate your family’s preferences and traditions.
